Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE... A portion of western North Carolina, including the following county, Avery. * WHEN... Until 300 PM EDT. * IMPACTS... Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 104 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area as very heavy thunderstorms lingering across the area. Locally as much as 2.5 to 3 inches may accumulation. Watch for fast rises along the Elk River and around Banner Elk and Beech Mountain. Especially along highways 194 and 184. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
