Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

A portion of west central Virginia, including the following independent cities, City of Roanoke and City of Salem.

* WHEN...
Until 1230 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 929 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Nearly 1 inch of rain has fallen since 900 PM.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Gish Branch, Carvin Creek, Mason Creek and Roanoke River.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
